ZTE’s overseas business rose as a percentage of the total from 52.3% to 64.2% and absolutely to $1.899 billion. Of the total half year on half year increase in total sales of RMB 4.497 billion ($674 million), just under RMB 2.00 billion ($300 million) or 44.5% came from Africa (with 15% of global population and less than half of that for GDP and which in the first half of 2007 was only 12.1% of total corporate sales), RMB 1.670 billion ($250 million) or 37.1% came from the rest of Asia, and RMB 1.043 billion ($156 million) or 23.2% from the rest of the world.

Cox goes Huawei

In a recent story done by GigaOM. Cox communications the internet, cable, and phone provider of 5.9million Subscribers (Wikipedia) has decided to use Huawei systems of CDMA and LTE networks. This is a major breakthrough of Huawei into the U.S. market creating a much more affordable technology of high quality components. It will be interesting to see how other Telecom providers and manufacturers respond to this as Cox is the 3rd largest provider of Cable services in the United States.

Huawei 100% Growth

http://www.gulfnews.com/business/Technology/10237060.html

It’s odd enough for companies at the moment considering the American economy to be reporting any sort of good news, but Huawei just blew all that right out of the water. Becoming a very versatile and diverse company it’s growth and revenue stream is rising to the top without stopping for breath.

Huawei keeps the ball rolling

This is in response to an Optical Keyhole article 11/8/08

August 6th Huawei Technologies out of Johannesburg, South Africa, has announced the opening of a training centre in Woodmead, a commercial suburb in northern Johannesburg.

Huawei is providing training centers for the telecom industry in an effort to slowly bring Africa into a more modern informed age.  They are targeting industry, local partners and employees looking to gain some new skills and knowledge, and by the end of 2007 4,000 African students graduated from all of these centres.

Huawei brings highspeed to China

China Telecome selected Huawei to do a 40Gbit WDM-based transmission network linking Shanghai and Wuxi today. Huawei will be bringing the internet to China Telecom and it’s customers at a blazing fast speed. Keep in mind the service for cable internet out here in Arizona is only at 10-15  Megabits instead of Gigabits. Quote Huawei “- ”The proliferation of Internet services has put an ever-increasing demand on bandwidth”. ”

Which means now all of China will be browsing youtube and myspace without any laggy downtime or waiting for uploads :).

A Huawei Trojan Horse?

There is only one telecom market Huawei has not been able to penetrate–The US telecom market.  Some analysts believe that the motivation for Huawei to spin off its handset business and sell it to a Western company is to find a way of entering the  US market–paving the way for their infrastructure  products.

Alcatel-Lucent fallout

This is a blog in response to this article - http://www.wirelessweek.com/article.aspx?id=161768

It strikes me as odd that not only the person who is the head of the company being ousted in a coup d’e ta, but the person organizing the coup in the first place will be leaving as well in short order. Needless to say the influence of Huawei certainly must be playing a part in all this, but more to the fact that the company merger seems to not have gone over the way the companies execs intended it too. It will take a really strong new leader to save Alcatel-Lucent now.
